CLEANING
The best way to prevent cavities is to schedule regular teeth cleanings with your dentist. Dr. James Glennon recommends having a cleaning once or twice a year in our office. Our thorough cleanings will remove plaque from your teeth in order to prevent cavities, gingivitis, and periodontal disease. Since routine brushing can’t clean everything, our dentists make sure to address the hard-to-reach areas of your teeth in order to remove hardened deposits.
FILLINGS
There are many reasons why patients receive tooth fillings. A patient may need a dental filling to repair tooth fractures, tooth decay, or teeth that have damage on the surface. If a tooth surface needs to be evened out, our dentists may use dental filling materials such as composite, porcelain, and silver amalgam.
ORAL CANCER DETECTION
An oral cancer screening is an important preventative measure to take to make sure you’re not missing anything threatening inside your mouth. Our dentists recommend an annual oral cancer screening to check for cancerous tumors in your mouth. We also recommend scheduling a screening if you notice a change in your mouth or throat.
We recommend calling us to schedule an oral cancer screening if you notice any of the following:
  • A sore or lesion in the mouth that does not heal within two weeks

  • A lump or thickening in the cheek

  • A white or red patch on the gums, tongue, tonsil, or lining of the mouth

  • A sore throat or feeling that something is caught in the throat
